In terms of gate revenues, the UFC is the premier organization. The number of live events scheduled by the promotion has grown from five live events in 2001 to twenty-one live events in 2009. Particularly noteworthy is the increase in average ticket price experienced by the UFC between 2005 and 2006. Ticket prices increased nearly $100, going from $178.01 in 2005 to $273.68 in 2006.
